The Mark of Tyranny
One Life's Worth
Writing Exercise Question: What does one life matter/What is the meaning of life?
Adran: Life is a brief chance to do good on this rock, before the inevitable happens.
Archon: The meaning of life is to die, and come to me.
Aristes: Laugh heartily, drink heavily, and love frequently!
Azad: Tell ya as soon as I find it.
Betresh-Lal: That implies it has a point. Mortals perish constantly, having accomplished nothing. It’s a rather depressing affair.
Cha’ka: Kreen know this from birth. To Serve the Clutch, Pursue the Hunt, and Birth new Hunters. At this point, this one has only the second left.
Davion: To serve. Whether that is your monarch, your family, or your own sense of pride, all life is born into servitude.
Dragonborn Arena Master: How would I know? I have only experienced one. Can you say what the meaning of sandwiches is, if you’ve only seen one? Well, likely, sandwiches are a fairly straight forward…. What were we talking about again?
Elthea: The Shadow Brides maintain all life exists for the Shadow King, and in death we go to his side. Few believe it, but it is something.
Haneth Tsalaxa: To amass a fortune strong enough that none dare trifle with you. No one with any sense at least.
Harzen Scorchedskull: To set yourself up for the next. Not the afterlife of course. I consider my first life the training course. As long as I lived, this time I intend to last much, much longer.
Moiraine: One life is not worth intrinsically more than another. A life is measured by how much good it does.
Mr. Bread: I used to charge 300 gold to end a life, double if it’s a noble, triple if it’s a templar.
Nihlus Vor: A simple labour slave in Draj is worth around…. 150 gold, if it’s in good condition and from fine stock. In Balic, you could probably get one for 125, but they expect you to buy in Bulk.
Verin Mathwin: Life means whatever you want it to! That’s part of the beauty.
