The Mark of Tyranny
“It’s curious, the people have such faith in their gods, that we watch over them in their afterlife. I resent that assertion, I have better things to do than wander the Grey, providing solace to the deceased.” Nibenay musing on the Grey.
In Athas, the gods, both good and evil, are dead. This presents a bizzare problem. Where do souls go when they die, with no heavens or hells? The answer is The Grey. When souls die, they entire the infinite void of The Grey, the remains of the realms of the gods. An infinite plain, filled with shifting mists, it is possible to go millenia without seeing another soul. Souls often lose complete hold of themselves after a time, giving up and joining the shifting mists for eternity.
The grey is mutable, though it takes a great amount of power or practice to cause any noticeable amount of change in the realm. The Grey has it’s own creatures, mostly leftover from The Dawn War.
